“I love the fact that I can relate to people — to our culture, from various parts of the United States. We have phrases that are the same, we have expressions that are the same and our humor. Because we have similar experiences and our culture it’s so funny to hear someone from a totally different state, far away from you, who has some of the same experiences. It’s funny.
I like being on, if I’m on a campus of predominantly white people, and I see someone who is African American. We immediately look at each other and speak and the white counterpart will say ‘Hey do you know that person?’ and I’ll say, ‘No, I don’t.’
‘Okay, well why were you speaking?’
‘Oh well, it’s sort of a black thing’ I like that.”
